Training Camp Journal – Day 20

Trent Corney’s Training Camp Journal

Today was the last day of training camp, so everyone is pretty happy to be done. Now we can get into a consistent routine on Monday.

I’m really happy with how camp went. Coach O’Shea did a good job of pushing us, but not to the point where we were losing a lot of guys. He kept us fresh throughout camp so that we were firing every day and had energy.

I’m happy I was able to get all my reps, I had no injuries, and I learned a lot.

I have no idea where I’m going to live yet. I was thinking about staying in the locker room this season and living in my locker. I’m kidding.

My goal is to try and find a place close to the veteran guys so I can get rides with them. I’m not sure I’m going to get a car. I might get a Smart Car because then I could pick it up and move it wherever I need to. Easy to park and just being able to pick up my own car… for me, that would be an ego thing. I’m kidding again.

I’m going to get back into my routine of lifting again. I feel like I’ve lost 30 pounds. I haven’t actually lost any, but it feels like it. The lifting will help me stay healthy during the season.

I’ll try to get some extra sleep on the weekend, maybe watch some movies or start a series on Netflix. I want to see the new ‘X-Men’. I’m not sure when the new ‘Suicide Squad’ is coming out, but I want to see that, too.

Also, I’m not a big Captain America guy. I find him a bit cheesey. I don’t know what power he really has. I mean, I feel like I could be Captain America. He’s just a human who is strong, has physical skills and is strong. I don’t know about him.

Defensive end Trent Corney was the Bombers first pick, 9th overall, in the 2016 CFL Draft. A product of Brockville, Ont., he played his college ball at the University of Virginia.

Bluebombers.com has chronicled Corney’s daily battles through training camp, from the highs on the field to the transition from the college to the pro game. This is his second-last entry.
