Training Camp Journal – Day 7

Trent Corney’s Training Camp Journal

June 4, 2016

My body is starting to get a little tired, a little sore. But it’s starting to get right into the heart of camp where you really got to… coach said, ‘Fake it till you make it.’ It’s where trying to do the things right over and over and over again become your tendencies.

Trent CorneyJeff Cummins is our guest coach and he coached one of my friends at Acadia. I’ve heard a lot of good things about him. When it’s really getting dark out there and I’m starting to suck wind he’s great for motivation and helping keep my energy and positive spirits up for practice. He used to play in the CFL and said he had a couple cups of tea in the NFL.

I’ve been trying to watch a movie at night to help relax, but every time I go to put it on my body is not in the mood and it wants to go to sleep. I really want to see Jungle Book. I heard it’s really good and the animation is next-level stuff the way Avatar was a few years ago. It’s got a 95 per cent rating on Rotten Tomatoes and all my friends said it was really good. I know that might sound funny, wanting to watch a childish movie, but I really want to watch it and don’t care what anybody thinks.

Defensive end Trent Corney was the Bombers first pick, 9th overall, in the 2016 CFL Draft. A product of Brockville, Ont., he played his college ball at the University of Virginia.

Bluebombers.com will chronicle Corney’s daily battles through training camp, from the highs on the field to the transition from the college to the pro game.
