Sam Diamond
Inducted: 1998
Born in Saskatchewan in 1920, Diamond settled in Winnipeg in 1946 after serving in the Air Force in World War II. He opened the Times Soda Bar that year on Broadway Avenue, beside Osborne Stadium and it became a hub for Bombers players, many of whom he not only fed, but befriended over the years.
In 1960 Diamond opened Broadway Pharmacy, which he operated until 1980, after which he established Diamond Athletic Medical Supplies. Diamond was known by many as ‘the man who could get you anything’ and was a long-time supporter of the football club and its players.
