CFL Unveils 2022 Schedule

WINNIPEG, MB., December 12, 2021 – The Canadian Football League (CFL) today unveiled the 2022 schedule that sees a return to a full slate of games. The reigning Grey Cup champions will kick off their season with the home opener June 10th against the Ottawa REDBLACKS at 7:30 pm.

After opening at home to Ottawa, the Bombers will then travel to the nation’s capital a week later for their second game on the schedule. The ’22 schedule will return to the full format of 18 games after playing an abridged 14-game season this past year. There will be three bye weeks for each team, with the regular season ending just before Halloween and the 109th Grey Cup scheduled for Regina on Sunday, November 22.

The home schedule includes five Friday night games on June 10th, June 24th and July 15th. Two games will be played at IG Field on Thursday nights – both in August – and two will be held on Saturdays: the annual Banjo Bowl on September 10th and a Thanksgiving weekend visit by Edmonton on October 8th.

The Bombers will open with four straight games against East Division opponents – following the back-to-back with Ottawa to open the season Winnipeg will then be home to the Ticats for a Grey Cup rematch before visiting Toronto on July 4th.

The annual Labour Day Classic and Banjo Bowl will be played September 4th in Regina and September 10th at IG Field. Three of the Bombers’ final four home games will be held at IG Field.

“We know our fans are still celebrating the Grey Cup win, but we’re already looking forward to the return of a full 18-game schedule in 2022,” said President & CEO, Wade Miller. “We can’t wait to continue the celebrations into next year with our incredible fans and raise another banner at IG Field.”
