Winnipeg Blue Bomber fans clamouring for a return to the classic royal blue uniforms are about to get their wish.

The unveiling of the new uniforms, both home and away, comes Thursday morning and features the popular royal blue look that fans had been asking for over the last few years.

Bomber President & CEO, Wade Miller, first confirmed the news at last month’s annual Fan Forum, indicating the club will return to ‘our roots’ and once again don the royal blues at home.

The club has occasionally worn its wildly popular royal blue over the last few years, but switched to navy for the 1995 season along with a stylized ‘W’ and lightning bolt for a navy helmet logo.

The Bombers glory days of the late 1950’s-early 1960’s did feature feature the navy tones and helmet colour, but the 1984, 1988 and 1990 championships were all won in royal blue.

The new look is part of a league-wide jersey launch for all nine teams, as the league switches to adidas as its new uniform designer.

Fans will get to see the new look but won’t actually be able to go home with a jersey just yet. A manufacturing issue by adidas means there will be a delay in the shipment of the jerseys and they won’t be available until the week of the club’s season opener on June 24th.

Fans can still pre-order the new jerseys by phone (204-784-7451), in person or online. Adidas is offering a free player name & number T-shirt and an adidas hat to the first 500 jersey pre-orders, and a free player name & number T-shirt to the second 500 who pre-order.

The Bomber jersey launch will be covered by bluebombers.com and featured extensively on all our social media accounts at 10:00 a.m. tomorrow morning.
