Blue Bombers Launch New Girls High School Flag Football League

The Winnipeg Football Club is proud to launch a new High School Girls Flag Football League, presented by Bell MTS.

“This new league will allow high school girls to showcase their athletic talents, learn new skills, and experience the thrill of flag football in an inclusive environment,” said Wade Miller, WFC President & CEO. “Thank you to our great partners at Bell MTS for their ongoing support of youth programming, allowing us to create new opportunities for youth to fall in love with football.”

The six-weeks of competition will see 19 teams of over 200 athletes compete in 87 games at Winnipeg Soccer Federation South and the St. Vital Mustangs Field.

“Through our Bell for Better initiative, we are proud of our ongoing partnership with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers to help more young people in Manitoba experience the benefits of participating in community sports,” said David Kennedy, Vice President of Brand and Sponsorship for Bell Canada. “This year, we are excited to extend our support of their Youth Football Program to the brand-new High School Girls Flag Football League. This program will foster teamwork, leadership, and resilience skills in young women from schools across Winnipeg as we work with the Blue Bombers to give back to our communities.”

Running every Tuesday and Wednesday from April 2 to May 8, the league offers young women an opportunity to play and enjoy the sport with their classmates in the spirit of competition and rivalry with other high schools across the city.
