Blue Bombers sign four 2020 draft selections

WINNIPEG, MB., January 12, 2021 – The Winnipeg Blue Bombers today announce the club has agreed to terms with four members of its 2020 Canadian Football League Draft class in defensive back Noah Hallett, kicker Marc Liegghio, defensive lineman Nick Dheilly and linebacker Tanner Cadwallader.

Hallett (6-0, 190, McMaster, in London, ON) was the Bombers’ first pick in the 2020 draft, selected 18thoverall. Hallett spent three seasons at McMaster, playing in 23 games and recording 68.5 total tackles, four tackles for loss, 15 pass breakups, seven interceptions, three sacks and one forced fumble. Noah is the brother of current Blue Bomber and 2019 CFL Draft selection, Nick Hallett, who made 13 special teams tackles and played in every game for the Blue Bombers in 2019.

Liegghio (5-7, 189, Western University, in Woodbridge, ON) was selected in the fifth round, 39th overall. He played four years at Western University, leading all U Sports punters in 2019 with a 47.5 yard punt average, setting a new OUA record. Liegghio also lead the league in extra points made (31) and total kickoff yardage (1,757) and finished with a 92% field goal percentage.

Dheilly (6-4, 210, Saskatchewan, in Regina, SK) was drafted in the fifth round by the Bombers, 46th overall. He spent three seasons with the Regina Rams before transferring to the University of Saskatchewan. In 2016 while with the Rams, Dheilly was named the Canada West Rookie of the Year after registering 17 solo tackles, 13 assisted tackles, 7.5 tackles for loss, an interception, and a pass breakup as well as finishing in a tie for second in Canada West with four sacks. In 2017, he was named a Canada West All-Star, finishing second in Canada West with 6.5 sacks, which tied the school record, and led the conference with 9.5 tackles for loss and also tied for the Canada West lead with three forced fumbles. Dheilly spent the 2018 season with the Okanagan Sun before joining the Huskies in 2019.

Cadwallader (5-11, 215, Wilfrid Laurier, Georgetown, ON) was selected in the seventh round, 64th overall. He spent three seasons at Wilfrid Laurier, appearing in 13 games over that span. He played the 2019 season with the London Beefeaters (CJFL), appearing in eight regular season games and registering 22 unassisted tackles, two assisted tackles and two sacks. He also recorded three interceptions – one of which he returned for a touchdown.
