Bombers add five, release one

WINNIPEG, MB., May 10, 2018 – The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have added international receiver international wide receiver Donteea Dye, International defensive lineman Brandin Bryant and 2018 CFL Draft picks Matthew Ouellet De Carlo (OL), Jacob Firlotte (DB) Ben Koczwara (OL).

Dye (5’10, 195, Heidelburg University, August 20, 1993 in Cincinnati, OH.) played three seasons with the Heidelberg University Athletics, catching 116 passes for 2,298 yards and 26 touchdowns. In 2015, Dye signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as an undrafted free agent. He played two seasons with the Buccaneers, catching 11 passes for 132 yards in 11 games played.

Bryant (6’2, 289, Florida Atlantic University, September 16, 1993 in Omaha, NE.) He played four seasons with the Florida Atlantic Owls, recording 121 total tackles, 25 tackles for a loss and 9.5 sacks. Bryant signed with the Seattle Seahawks as an undrafted free agent in 2016 and also spent time on the New York Jets practice roster.

De Carlo (6-04, 318, Bishop’s University, November 7, 1993 in Pierrefond QC) was selected 49th overall in last week’s Draft. He played four seasons with the Bishop’s Gaiters. De Carlo is a two-time Academic All-Canadian and participated in the 2017 U Sports East-West bowl. In 2014, De Carlo received newcomer of the year honors and in 2016 was named linemen of the year for the Gaiters.

Firlotte (6-3, 216, Queen’s University, May 29, 1996 in Abbotsford, BC) was selected 58th overall in last week’s Draft. He spent four seasons with the Queen’s Gaels, playing in 30 games. Firlotte recorded 49 solo tackles and 3 interceptions in his career at Queen’s.

Koczwara (6-3, 291, Waterloo University) was selected 67th overall in last week’s Draft. He played four seasons with the Waterloo Warriors, playing in 31 games. Koczwara participated in the 2017 U Sports East-West Bowl.

The team has also released International quarterback Philip Nelson.
