National Scout

Craig Smith returns for his second season as the club’s National Scout. A Winnipeg native, Smith holds nearly two decades of personnel experience in the CFL. Prior to joining Winnipeg, Smith spent six seasons with the Saskatchewan Roughriders as their Director of Player Personnel, where he was responsible for the identification and evaluation of collegiate and junior players across Canada and the United States while also playing a key role in their CFL Draft process.

Prior to joining Saskatchewan, Smith spent a total of eight seasons with the B.C. Lions in a capacity of roles within their player personnel department. He entered the CFL in 1999 when he first joined the Lions as a guest coach. Smith also spent three seasons as the Director of Player Personnel for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats from 2005-2007 before returning to the Lions for the 2008 season as a scout.
