Rookie Camp Journal – Day 2

Trent Corney’s Rookie Camp Journal

We were out of meetings around 8:30-ish last night and I was able to get back and watch the Raptors game. My Raptors got destroyed. Hopefully they can take it to Game 7, but I’m also a big LeBron James fan because I think he’s one of the best athletes in the world.

It’s weird how that series is working… every home team is winning. I didn’t think it was that big an advantage, but it’s like a 30 to 40-point advantage right now. It’s crazy. No matter what, I really like what the Raptors have done and how much pride they’ve brought to the country.

After that I just relaxed in the room. I didn’t spend a whole lot of time with the playbook because I needed to give myself time to de-stress after the first day and just relax.

I de-stress by doing push-ups in my room. That’s one of the reasons I gained a lot of weight in high school. I had bad anxiety in high school and started lifting and that’s how I got big.

So I was doing sets of 80 push-ups last night in my room. I did five sets of 80 and my last set was 90, just to see how many I could do. My chest is about to tear right now.

The thing is, after I did that I had a nice hot shower and I felt like a million bucks. My mind was totally clear and I was able to get a good sleep. It’s just my way, it’s part of my routine. It’s what works for me.
