Blue Bombers Mourn the Passing of Buddy Tinsley

The Winnipeg Football Club would like to express its deepest condolences to the family of Blue Bomber legend, Buddy Tinsley, who passed away at the age of 87.

“It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of one of this city’s past heroes,” said Blue Bomber President, Jim Bell.  “Buddy was a tremendous player on the football field and was an important member of this organization’s rich history.  He will be remembered as not only a great football player, but as a great individual.”

Tinsley was an offensive lineman for the Blue Bombers from 1950-1960 and played in five Grey Cup championships, winning two of them (’58, ’59).  The seven-time Western All-Star was named team captain for ten of his eleven seasons and was inducted into the Canadian Football Hall of Fame in 1982 and into the Winnipeg Football Club Hall of Fame in 1984.

He was honoured last season, along with 12 other Blue Bomber legends, during the Football Club’s 80th anniversary.
