2025: Blue Bombers
The Blue Bombers acquired Peterson in a draft day trade with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats on April 29, 2025.
Following a solid preseason he cracked the opening day roster and made an immediate impact following an injury to Brady Oliveira in the first possession of the first game of the year. Peterson came off the bench in a win over the B.C. Lions to rush for 130 yards on 23 carries, including a spectacular 38-yard touchdown run.
With Oliveira injured for the second game, Peterson made his first CFL start in Vancouver and rushed 11 times for 42 yards and pulling in two passes for eight yards. He finished the year ranked second on the club in rushing to Oliveira with 329 yards on 66 carries.
College:
Winnipeg sent Canadian defensive tackle Kyle Samson, the 36th overall pick in the CFL Draft and the 8th selection in the Global Draft for Hamilton’s 39th overall pick in the CFL Draft and the second overall selection in the Global Draft, which the club used to select defensive end Kemari Munier-Bailey.
Peterson was a fourth-round, 36th overall, by Hamilton in the 2024 CFL Draft. He returned to the University of Alberta in 2024 for a fifth season, suiting up for six games and finishing with 784 yards and one TD, adding six receptions for 45 yards.
He suited up for 38 games over his five seasons with the Golden Bears (2019-23), totalling 477 carries for 3,032 yards and nine touchdowns, adding 62 receptions for 583 yards and three touchdowns.
In 2023 Peterson was named the Canada West Player of the Year after leading the conference with 1,128 rush yards, the second highest rush total in the entire nation. The Brooks, Alta. product finished with a 9.6 yards per carry in 2023, adding four rushing touchdowns for the 6-2 Golden Bears. Peterson also added 11 receptions for 157 yards, leading the conference with 1,285 all-purpose yards.
