2023: Blue Bombers

Lawler returned to the Blue Bombers in free agency in 2023, but had to wake to make his 2023 debut as he served a suspension to start the season. When he did get on the field he was sensational, pulling in 50 passes for 901 yards and six touchdowns in 12 games before suiting up for both playoff contests. Included in those numbers was his best performance of the season in a home win over the B.C. Lions in August when Lawler had seven receptions for 200 yards and a touchdown.

2022: Edmonton Elks

Signed with the Elks on the first day of free agency, February 8, 2022. Led the Elks in receiving yardage (894) and receiving touchdowns (5) on 58 receptions — despite playing in just 12 games. Lawler was twice injured, first with an ankle and then later in the year with a season-ending shoulder injury.
Lawler signed a two-year deal to return to the Blue Bombers on February 14, 2023.

2021: Blue Bombers

Lawler enjoyed a sensational 2021 campaign, leading the CFL with 1,014 yards receiving on 64 receptions, six of them for touchdowns, while being named a CFL All-Star, a CFLPA All Star and a West Division All-Star.
Lawler then added an additional six catches for 90 yards in the Western Final and Grey Cup win in Hamilton over the Tiger-Cats, as the Blue Bombers captured their second consecutive championship.

2019: Blue Bombers

Lawler began to flash his brilliance in his first season with the Blue Bombers, pulling in 41 passes for a team-high 637 yards and four touchdowns — numbers which earned him the club’s Most Outstanding Rookie honours. He added eight catches for 126 yards and a touchdown in the three playoff games that November, including a win in the 2019 Grey Cup.
Lawler had first joined the Blue Bombers in the fall of 2018 as part of the CFL’s practice roster expansion. He first came to the CFL with the B.C. Lions earlier that year, but was released in training camp.

2016-17: Seattle Seahawks

Lawler was a seventh-round pick of the Seahawks in the 2016 NFL Draft and spent time on the team’s practice roster over the next two seasons.

College

Lawler enjoyed a stellar career at the University of California, where he was ranked second on the school’s all-time touchdown receptions list and 12th overall in the Pac-12. He left school following his junior season and after declaring for the 2016 NFL Draft.
