In 2019, The Winnipeg Blue Bombers launched the Intercept Cancer program in partnership with Lawson Sales & Equipment Ltd. The goal of the program is to support cancer research in Manitoba, raise awareness of the importance of early screening and detection of various forms of cancer, and recognize those affected by the disease.
The October 23rd, 2021, home game was last season’s designated Intercept Cancer game. Bomber fans were encouraged to take a card and write the name of a person in their life who has been affected by cancer and hold up that card throughout the game to celebrate or honour their story.
Lawson Sales & Equipment Ltd. generously matched all donations received through various efforts such as proceeds from the sale of pink Bomber gear to a maximum amount of $20,000. At halftime, The Blue Bombers joined Lawson Sales & Equipment Ltd. to present a cheque to Cancer Care Foundation of Manitoba for the maximum amount.
Check out the Bomber Store for pink merch to support out Intercept Cancer Fund and see you at next season’s Intercept Cancer Game.
