Barry Manning was a long-serving member of the Bombers volunteer board of directors. He joined the Bombers Management Committee in 1957 when the team did not have a general manager as it does today.

Manning was involved in the long-term development of the franchise and held key positions like Vice President, VP Budget and Finance, Secretary and Chair of the Stadium Committee.

Born in Toronto, Manning’s family moved to Winnipeg when he was nine years old. He joined the Royal Canadian Navy in 1942 and served on several ships until 1945, including the HMCS Winnipeg. He returned to Winnipeg and graduated from the University of Manitoba with a law degree. He joined the legal department at Great West Life Assurance Company in 1950 and remained with the firm until his retirement in 1986.
