It is an absolute match made in heaven — Canada’s biggest sporting event being hosted by a city which prides itself on its strength of community and throwing one heckuva party.
That party — the 112th Grey Cup and the Grey Cup Festival wrapped around it — will be in Winnipeg later this year, from November 10-16th, and co-hosted by the Blue Bombers along with the Manitoba Metis Federation and Treaty One Nations.
The Grey Cup Festival has been perfectly dubbed ‘Canada’s Biggest Social’ with that theme and the game and festival logo unveiled Friday at a press conference in the Pinnacle Club in Princess Auto Stadium. The designs for both logos draw inspiration from ‘Manitoba’s vibrant aurora borealis, featuring bold colours, boreal forest pines, and the unmistakable Grey Cup trophy, symbolizing the passion of Canadian football fans.’
“Sports have a unique way of bringing the community together,” began Dayna Spiring, co-host of the Grey Cup Festival along with Barb Gamey. “This year, the Grey Cup Festival is a nod to that sense of community and a recognition of the uniquely Manitoban tradition of bringing people together and celebrating like only we can.”
Vowing the event with ’embrace the spirit of Canada’s biggest social’ Spiring added, “There’s not another city in Canada that can host a Grey Cup like Winnipeg can.”
“We’re looking forward to putting on the best Grey Cup and it’s going to be fantastic for our city and our province,” added Blue Bombers President & CEO Wade Miller. “This event will bring thousands of people into downtown Winnipeg as we welcome Canadians from across this country to an event that is truly Canadian and something we’re all proud of.”
Critical to this year’s event will be the involvement of the Manitoba Metis Federation (MMF) and Treaty One Nations as the Grey Cup co-hosts, all part of reconciliation through meaningful partnerships. That partnership will mean the Grey Cup Festival will help showcase Indigenous cultures, traditions, and languages through arrival of the cup on Monday, November 10th while highlighting musical and cultural performances as part of the week’s concert series and then including representation by the MMF and Treaty One as part of the opening ceremony on Grey Cup Sunday.
“We’re proud of our football team, and as Red River Métis, we want to do our part to support the Blue Bombers,” said Manitoba Metis Federation President David Chartrand. “By being Platinum Sponsors and Co-hosts of the Grey Cup Festival, we show our community as the Manitoba Métis Federation, we’re not only a partner and financial supporter, but proud Manitobans.”
“The 2025 Grey Cup Festival is more than just a celebration; it’s an opportunity to showcase and build our community while continuing to fulfill the Winnipeg Football Club’s commitment to working with First Nations, Inuit, and Métis communities,” added Miller. “We look forward to welcoming fans, celebrating Indigenous heritage, and creating an unforgettable Grey Cup Festival that reflects the diversity and spirit of Manitoba.”
The 2025 Grey Cup and Festival will mark the fourth time Winnipeg has hosted the Canadian Football League’s marquee event after 1991, 1998, 2006 and 2015 — all of which were extremely successful. This year the plans are to take the whole week to the next level and it will include an impressive lineup of free events, including:
Wawanesa Street Festival – A dynamic outdoor street party filled with live music, food vendors, and interactive experiences.
Telus Fan Experience – A high-energy fan zone featuring meet-and-greets with CFL legends, immersive football experiences, and exclusive Grey Cup content.
Canada Life Family Zone – A family-friendly hub offering fun games, activities, and entertainment for fans of all ages.
