Winnipeg Football Club Announces $50,000 Donation to WASAC

WINNIPEG, MB., January 19, 2023 – The Winnipeg Football Club is proud to announce a donation of $50,000 to the Winnipeg Aboriginal Sport Achievement Centre (WASAC) from proceeds on orange merchandise sales and the orange jersey auction from the Truth and Reconciliation game which took place on September 30th, 2022.

“WASAC is honoured and grateful to work with the Winnipeg Football Club,” said Trevor LaForte, WASAC Executive Director. “This generous gift will support our Summer Kids Camp that provides sport, cultural and educational programming for 1,500 children from over 70 schools in Winnipeg free of charge. We employ 80 Youth Leaders at the camp, providing many with their first work experience.”

The funds will be used to support programs and initiatives operated by WASAC which aim to promote healthy lifestyles and cultural pride among Indigenous communities.

“At the Winnipeg Football Club, we believe in the power of sports to bring people together and make a positive impact on the City of Winnipeg,” said Wade Miller, WFC President and CEO. “We are proud to support WASAC and their important work and we cannot thank our fans and partners enough for their support of this great initiative.”

WASAC is a charitable not-for-profit organization that removes barriers for thousands of children and youth annually through sports, recreation, and cultural programming. For more information, please visit wasac.ca.
