Winnipeg Football Club donate $100,000 in equipment to youth and women’s football programs

WINNIPEG, MB., April 18, 2022 – The Winnipeg Football Club today announced a $100,000 donation of equipment to youth football including 220 new helmets for high school and women’s football programs.

The Club is committed to growing youth football in the community by ensuring kids have access to safe equipment so they can focus on developing their skills and knowledge of the game. Football is one of the few sports where all the equipment is provided for the season.

“As we emerge from the pandemic, we encourage everyone, especially youth to get involved in football which is truly the most inclusive sport – there is a position on the football field for everyone,” said Wade Miller, President and CEO of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. “Whether it’s a tackle or flag league, check with your community club for information on how join.”

On behalf of the hundreds of youth and young adult football players that will be using this equipment to ensure a safe football experience, Football Manitoba wishes to thank the Winnipeg Football Club for their incredible donation of $100,000 and 220 helmets. These resources will be put to great use by young football players this coming season and into the future.

The Club is also proud to support the Manitoba Fearless Women’s Tackle Football Program. The program supports a team of women ages 16 to 50-plus to develop their football skills. The Fearless play all their home games at IG Field.

The Winnipeg Football Club’s 50/50 program and generous sponsors help support all levels of amateur tackle and flag football by ensuring athletes can play, and by assisting with the ongoing development of coaches and officials.
