Bombers add Winnipeg-born linebacker DJ Lalama

WINNIPEG, MB., February 16, 2019 –  The Winnipeg Blue Bombers today announce the club has signed national Winnipeg-born linebacker DJ Lalama. 
 
Lalama (6-0, 225, Manitoba, July 21, 1993 in Winnipeg, MB) was originally drafted by Edmonton 70th overall in the 2016 CFL Draft. Lalama spent the 2017 season with Montreal, playing in 15 games and recording ten special teams tackles.
 
During a four year career at the University of Manitoba, Lalama finished second all-time in school history in tackles with 184. In 2016, Lalama was awarded The Presidents’ Trophy as the Defensive Player of the Year.
 
In his senior season, Lalama led U Sports in total tackles (72.5) and solo tackles (54), finishing the eight-game regular schedule with 16 more total tackles than any other player in Canada West. He also tied for the conference lead in forced fumbles (3) and ranked third in the country in pass breakups (7).
