Bryant and Harris named West Division nominees for Most Outstanding Player Awards

WINNIPEG, MB., November 8, 2017 –   The Canadian Football League announced today the division nominees for the 2017 CFL Most Outstanding Player Awards. Players were selected by voting members of the Football Reporters of Canada (FRC) and CFL head coaches.

Running back Andrew Harris has been nominated as the West Division’s Most Outstanding Canadian in 2017, the first time he has received this honour. Harris finished the season leading the league in rushing (1,035 yards), and set a CFL record for receptions by a running back, leading the entire CFL in passes caught with 105.  Harris finished the season with six rushing touchdowns and one receiving score. Harris has been a team’s nomination for Most Outstanding Canadian four times in his CFL career (twice as a member of the B.C. Lions). The last Bomber to be named the West Division’s Most Outstanding Canadian was Jamaal Westerman in 2015.

Left tackle Stanley Bryant has been named the West Division nominee for Most Outstanding Lineman in 2017. Bryant has played in all 18 regular season games this season, earning his fourth team nomination as Most Outstanding Lineman (twice as a member of the Stampeders). Bryant is a two-time CFL all-star and has started every game over the past two seasons with Winnipeg. Bryant led the way for the league’s leading rusher in Andrew Harris in 2017, and earns his first nomination as a divisional Most Outstanding Player. The last Bomber to be named the West Division’s Most Outstanding Lineman was Dan Goodspeed in 2007.
