Seven Bombers named West Division All-Stars

WINNIPEG, MB., November 8, 2017 –   The Canadian Football League today announced its divisional All-Star teams, and seven Winnipeg Blue Bombers were named to the West team.

The voting was conducted by The Football Reporters of Canada and the nine CFL head coaches.

At running back, Winnipegger Andrew Harris was named a Division All-Star for the fourth time in his career after a record-setting season in 2017. The Bombers’ nominee for Most Outstanding Canadian finished the season leading the league in rushing (1,035 yards), and set a CFL record for receptions by a running back, leading the entire CFL in passes caught at 105. Harris finished the season with six rushing touchdowns and one receiving score.

Second-year Bomber right tackleJermarcus Hardrick, and veteran left tackleStanley Bryant, have also been named 2017 West Division All-Stars. This is Hardrick’s first and Bryant’s third nomination. Both started all 18 games in 2017 and anchored an offensive line which paved the way for the league’s leading rusher and a group that played together almost the entire season.

Second year safety Taylor Loffler took over starting duties in Week 6 of 2016 and morphed into the club’s Most Outstanding Rookie last season. He has now been named a West Division All-Star for the second year in a row. Loffler was the league’s All-Star safety in 2016, and finished this season with a team-high 75 defensive tackles  while making one interception and three forced fumbles in 17 games.

Defensive back TJ Heath has been named a Division All-Star for the second consecutive season. Acquired in a trade last September that also brought the first overall selection in the 2017 CFL Draft, Heath played in all 18 games for Winnipeg in 2017, recording 64 defensive tackles, one sack, and five interceptions – returning one for a touchdown.

Receiver Darvin Adams had a breakout season in 2017, earning his first Division All-Star nod, playing in 15 games and leading them team in receiving yards (1,120) while recording seven touchdowns on 76 receptions.

Cornerback Chris Randle was named the team’s Most Outstanding Defensive Player in 2017, and now has been named to the West Division All-Star team for the first time in his career. Randle played in all 18 games, accumulating five interceptions, 60 defensive tackles, one sack, one fumble recovery and two defensive touchdowns.
