The field is shrinking and the stakes are getting higher in the Winnipeg High School Football League.

The WHSFL playoffs have reached the semi-final stage in the chase for various bowl game championships, leaving no room for error.

Here are some semi-final stories to track this week:

• The St. Paul’s Crusaders meet the Vincent Massey Trojans in the Anavets Bowl semi, a rematch of last year’s title game, won 17-8 by the Crusaders. St. Paul’s is unbeaten through the regular season and first round of the playoffs. The Trojans were 5-2, losing 29-23 to the Crusaders in Week 2 and 14-2 to Dakota a week later before finding their mojo.
  The other Anavets Bowl semi will see the Dakota Lancers face the Sisler Spartans. Sisler was 6-1 in the regular season – their only loss a Week 1 setback to St. Paul’s. Dakota was 5-2, falling to St. Paul’s and Sisler 28-24 last month.
• The CTV Bowl semis will see Oak Park, which dropped down from the Potter Division, vs. Kelvin, and Vincent Massey (Brandon) vs. St. Paul’s (AA). Kelvin has been perfect so far this season, while the Crusaders AA team lost only once – to Kelvin – while Massey fell to River East and St. Paul’s this season.
• The CTV Bowl semis have Daniel McIntyre, unbeaten in the Currie Division this year, facing Crocus Plains and Kildonan East – 5-2 in the Currie – moving up to face Portage, 3-4 in the Vidruk Division this year.
• The WHSFL Bowl semis will see the St. Norbert Celtics and West Kildonan Wolverines – the top two seeds – see their first action of the playoffs after enjoying a first-round bye. The Celtics meet the Fort Frances Muskies, while the Wolverines meet the Churchill Bulldogs.
