WHSFL | Week 4 Preview

The Winnipeg High School Football League is now into the meaty part of the schedule, where every result can push a team closer to the playoffs or out of the picture entirely.

Here are some Week 4 storylines to keep an eye on:

  • Big showdown in the Potter Division (AAA) in a battle of two unbeaten heavyweights as Dakota (3-0) faces defending champion St. Paul’s (3-0) in the Crusaders annual Homecoming Game.
The other unbeaten Potter squad, the Grant Park Pirates, will be home to winless Oak Park.
  • The two unbeaten teams in the Vidruk Division (AA) – the Dryden Eagles and Kelvin Clippers, both 3-0 – will be attempting to stay perfect this week. Dryden is home to Portage (1-2) while Kelvin travels to Eastside Field to face Miles Mac (0-3).
  • The Vidruk Division also features a pair of players cranking out huge yards along the ground with Neelin quarterback Dayton Black having already rushed for 843 yards and eight TDs and Daniel Moroz of Kelvin right behind him with 812 yards and eight TDs.
  • There are three teams still perfect in the Currie Division (A) in St. John’s, Daniel McIntyre and Beaver Brae of Kenora, all 3-0. St. John’s hosts St. Norbert (0-3), Daniel McIntyre travels to Churchill (0-3) while Beaver Brae meets Kildonan East (2-1) at Eastside Field.
