Dave Ritchie

Inducted: 2014

Dave Ritchie was a lot of things during his six years as head coach of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. And ‘boring’ wasn’t one of them.

Ritchie helped lead the Bombers out of the wilderness after the nightmares of 1997-98 when the team went 7-29. He took over in 1999 and guided the club to the East Final in 2000 and the Grey Cup in 2001.

A tough, hard-nosed graduate of the ‘old school’, Ritchie was also a grandfatherly-type absolutely adored by his players. He is third on the club’s all-time wins list as a coach with 52, behind only Bud Grant (102) and Cal Murphy (86).
