James Murphy is a prime example of a player who comes north to the CFL after bouncing around the NFL and finds a home here both during and after his playing days. Murphy arrived midway through 1982, suiting up for the two playoff games that fall and didn’t take long to begin his assault on the Bombers record books. He retired as the club’s all-time leading receiver (since passed by Milt Stegall), was named the CFL’s Most Outstanding Player in 1986 and later was enshrined in both the Winnipeg Football Club and Canadian Football Halls of Fame.
