Bill Ceretti
Inducted: 1985
Guard, tackle: 1931-41, 1945-49
Bill Ceretti started playing football in 1929 as a junior and joined the Bombers in 1931 where he played on both sides of the ball. Winnipeg sportswriting legend Vince Leah referred to Ceretti as ‘one of the finest Canadian-born linemen in the history of the game.’
He was a member of three Grey Cup championship teams in Winnipeg, in 1935, 1939 and 1941. He was nicknamed ‘Red Dog’ – not for anything related to football, but because of his skills at a card game with the same name.
