Bombers Tackle Bullying

Winnipeg, MB – The Winnipeg Blue Bombers are kicking off their Rural Community Caravan today. The Caravan also marks the beginning of the new initiative, Bombers Tackle Bullying, within schools outside of Winnipeg. Bombers Tackle Bullying is delivered in partnership with the Canadian Red Cross and its Beyond the Hurt program.

“The Blue Bombers are committed to reaching rural Manitoba with community programming,” said Hannah Rose Pratt, Manager of Community Relations. “It’s important for children to see professional athletes as positive role models both on and off the field.”

From March 15 to 17, defensive back Matt Bucknor and centre Matthias Goossen will deliver the Canadian Red Cross’s Beyond the Hurt presentations to youth ages five to 14.

“We’re pleased to have the Bombers on side with the Red Cross to help deliver our message of developing respectful relationships and bullying prevention to Manitoba youth,” said Shawn Feely, Canadian Red Cross Vice-President, Manitoba and Nunavut.
