Blue Bomber Transactions

The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have added import defensive back Joe Sampson and import linebacker Daniel Sheffield to their practice roster, the team announced today.

Sampson (5-10, 203, Brigham Young, DOB: July 8, 1989 in Oakland, California) started eight games as a senior recording 33 tackles, one tackle for loss and two pass knockdowns.  He earned letterman honours as a junior, playing both corner and safety in certain situations and recorded 23 tackles, five tackles for loss, one sack, one interception, one fumble recovery and three pass knockdowns.

Sheffield (6-3, 206, Troy, DOB: February 10, 1988 in Ashburn, Georgia) played three seasons with the Trojans and finished his career with 147 defensive tackles, seven tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks and one interception.  Prior to transferring to Troy, Sheffield played one season at Garden City Community College in Kansas where he tallied 79 tackles, two interceptions and one forced fumble.  He attended training camp with the Saskatchewan Roughriders last year, but was among the team’s final cuts and also participated in this year’s training camp with the Blue Bombers, but left on his own terms shortly after rookie camp.

The Blue Bombers have also released import defensive end Dexter Davis and import defensive back Wesley Pendleton from the practice roster.
