Blue Bombers Add Four Players To Roster

The Winnipeg Blue Bombers added four players to their roster today, announcing the signings of import receiver Clarence Denmark, import defensive back Arrington Hicks, non-import defensive back Chayce Elliott and non-import kicker Rene Paredes.

Denmark (5-11, 187, Arkansas-Monticello, DOB: September 29, 1985 in Jacksonville, Florida) spent the past two preseason’s with the Jacksonville Jaguars where he caught four passes for 31 yards in three preseason games.  He spent four weeks at the end of the 2009 season on the Jaguars’ practice roster as well as the first week of the 2010 season.  Denmark played two seasons at the University of Arkansas-Monticello after transferring from Troy University and finished his collegiate career with 91 receptions for 1,586 yards and 14 touchdowns while also returning 34 kickoffs for 629 yards.  His career receiving yards total ranks ninth all-time in UAM history.

Hicks (5-9, 177, Eastern Michigan, DOB: October 3, 1988 in Orlando, Florida) played four years for the Eastern Michigan Eagles, tallying 104 tackles and three interceptions and was constantly singled out by his coaches for his play and took home many player of the game accolades.  In 2008, his team-leading eight pass deflections ranked him sixth in the Mid-American Conference.

Elliott (5-10, 185, Ottawa, DOB: December 10, 1987 in Vancouver, British Columbia) transferred to the University of Ottawa after spending two seasons with Western Washington University.  He was a first-team OUA All-Star last season after finishing the year with 26 tackles and four interceptions.  In 2009, Elliott participated in the CIS East-West Bowl after being named a second-team OUA All-Star in just his second season in the CIS.

Paredes (5-11, 195, Concordia, DOB: May 15, 1985 in Caracas, Venezuela) was good on 54 of 71 career field goals in four seasons with Concordia University.  In 2007, Paredes was ranked first in the CIS in field goal percentage after connecting on 88% of his tries and a year later was ranked third after hitting on 81% of his tries.  He was named to the QUFL All-Star team in 2007.
