2008 Annual Report Released

Total ticket revenue increased by $239,925 in 2008 from 2007. A big reason for this was a 20 per cent increase in season ticket revenue.

Another positive for the football club was a 15 per cent increase in sponsorship revenue last year, from $3,667,523 to $4,090,343

Finally, the team’s total operating revenue increased by 8.3% from last year, a total of $1,078,443.

The total expenses of the football club increased to $13.4 million in 2008 compared to $13.3 million in 2007.

The result of the 2008 report – the football club’s net surplus at the end of year was $5,088,578 compared to $4,327,483 in 2007.

"These results characterize the progress that this club has made since 2000. The credit for the accomplishments should go to our fans, sponsors, staff and Board of Directors, as this has been quite a journey. I do believe the best is yet to come," said Lyle Bauer, President and CEO of the Winnipeg Football Club.

"The club has definitely turned a corner. We are no longer looking over our shoulder in respect to finances. The objective remains to provide this city and province with a championship. It remains the only outstanding objective in our business plan."
