ACQUIRED – Signed as a free agent by Winnipeg on February 27, 2009. He originally spent three weeks on Winnipeg's practice roster in 2008.
2009 (Wpg): The Blue Bombers signed Smith as a free agent on Feb 27/09. Smith’s first playing season in the CFL saw him get action in 16 regular season games. The California native racked up 47 tackles and eight quarterback sacks, while also recovering a fumble in 2009. Smith’s best game came Jul 24/09 vs Toronto (a 19-5 loss) when he sacked Kerry Joseph three times and had four defensive tackles. Had a career-high 7 tackles along with one sack in the season finale vs Hamilton on Nov 8/09. Missed only one game in his rookie season and alternated between defensive tackle and the end spot.
COLLEGE: Smith played his college football with the Oregon State Beavers. He was a starter in his senior season in 2007.
