Ross Hodgkinson

The 2011 season marks Hodgkinson’s 35th consecutive CFL training camp, which includes 23 full seasons in the league. The trainer turned football operations guru originally joined the Blue Bombers in 1985 as the Club’s Head Athletic Trainer and has over three decades of experience in professional sports.

Hodgkinson is entering his fourth season as the team’s Assistant General Manager, taking on that role in 2008. His responsibilities include managing the team’s salary cap, implementation and supervision of contract transactions and player registrations and the team liaison with the CFL office in areas of football operations, discipline and officiating. Hodgkinson works closely with General Manager Joe Mack and Head Coach Paul LaPolice on all football related matters. He also works closely with the team’s Communications department in all areas of player transactions being released publicly.

Prior to his current role as Assistant General Manager, Hodgkinson held the role of Director of Football Operations from 2005-2008, helping guide the blue and gold to two playoff appearances, including a Grey Cup final.

Hodgkinson re-joined the Blue and Gold in 2002, as the Director of Player Development and Logistics after having spent 1996-2002 as the Head Athletic Trainer for the AHL’s Manitoba Moose. Hodgkinson joined the Moose after spending over a decade (1985-1996) with the Blue Bombers as their trainer.

Hodgkinson got his start in the CFL in 1977, spending two seasons with the Toronto Argonauts as their Assistant Athletic Trainer. Following that, he was the Athletic Trainer at Lakehead University in Thunder Bay, ON, from 1979-1985.

Hodgkinson earned his Honours Bachelor of Physical and Health Education from Lakehead University in 1976, a Diploma in Athletic Training and Management from Sheridan College in 1977 and his Masters of Science in Physical Education – Theory of Coaching, from Lakehead University in 1990.
