Head Athletic Therapist

Alain Couture is entering his tenth season with the Winnipeg Football Club where he is responsible for the health and well-being of every player on the roster.  Couture provides constant updates to Head Coach Paul LaPolice on the health statuses of every player and he is ultimately the one with the final say on whether players can return to the field after being injured.

Starting with the Blue Bombers as a student therapist in 2003, Couture became the full time assistant in 2004. In May of 2005, he graduated from the University of Manitoba with a Bachelor of Exercise and Sport Science – Athletic Therapy degree and became a Certified Athletic Therapist in June 2005. In 2006, he became the Head Athletic Therapist for the Football Club.

Couture is also a Registered Massage Therapist through the Massage Therapy Association of Manitoba, and a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist through the National Strength and Conditioning Association.  His football experience also consists of working in the NFL, as he has worked off-season training camps with the Kansas City Chiefs (2007), Minnesota Vikings (2008), and the San Francisco 49ers (2009).
