WINNIPEG VS MONTREAL GAME PREVIEW

October 31, 2009

After a big win last week the Winnipeg Blue Bombers are preparing to head into Montreal to take on the Alouettes at Molson Stadium looking to sweep the home and home against the Als.

Last week’s 41-24 win over the Alouettes gave the Bombers exactly what they needed going into Montreal this week, confidence.  Michael Bishop had his best passing game in his entire CFL career throwing for 411 yards and two touchdowns against Montreal. Bishop knows, however, that as well as the offence played last week, they will need to play just as well if they plan on beating Montreal on Sunday.

“We were very good on all sides of the ball on Sunday,” says Bishop, “We have to be even better this Sunday though, because they’ll be ready for us.”
Along with some great play from Bishop, the Bomber offence benefitted from stellar play by both Terrence Edwards, who returned from a concussion, and newcomer Titus Ryan. The two receivers combined for 296-yards and two touchdowns against the Alouettes and gave Michael Bishop and the Bomber offence exactly what they needed to get past the high flying Alouettes.

The Bomber defence has also been revived by the play of two CFL rookie defensive ends in Odell Willis and Phillip Hunt. Willis and Hunt have been placed in the starting lineup for CFL vets Gavin Walls and Fred Perry who are both out with season ending injuries. The two rookies have provided a much need energy and spark to the defensive line and are proving to be more than most CFL offensive lines can handle, including Montreal.

“We got a great surge off the ends and it’s something we’ve been working hard at.” Says rookie defensive end Odell Willis. “If AC is back in there he has seen everything so we will need to switch some stuff up.”

The Bombers will be looking for some much needed momentum this week in preparation for next weeks battle against the Hamilton Tiger-Cats at Canad Inns Stadium. Fans should remember to start looking for their Blue gear now in preparation for next weeks “Blue Out” and be ready to support the Bombers as they push towards the playoffs.
