The 2009 season may be over for your Winnipeg Blue Bombers, but you can still interact with your favourite players. Throughout the offseason Blue Bomber players will be featured in a Q and A, and this week, East Division nominee for Most Outstanding Rookie Jonathan Hefney steps up to answer some questions from the fans.

Jonathan,

You were one of the last players to leave town, leaving last week, where are you right now?
Just at home playing video games online, resting. Oh, in SC (South Carolina).

What have you been doing since the season ended?

Working out, already getting up for next season. I’ve been playing basketball and travelling a bit too. I leave for Calgary tomorrow (Wednesday).

You’re going to Calgary this week, do you know what to expect from Grey Cup week?
Not at all... just gonna have fun and take it all in. I know Saskatchewan will have thousands of their crazy fans there, so it should be a good week.

You will be at Touchdown Manitoba on Friday in Calgary, right?

Absolutely! The guys around the club have been saying it's a good time so I'll definitely be out there to greet fans.

Do you have a Grey Cup prediction for us?

Nope, we are not in it so to me it really does not really matter...but i do like Durant and the Riders, only because he's from South Carolina.

You had a great rookie season, how would you describe your first year in five words or less?
Amazing and too much fun!

You’re up against Martell Mallet from the B.C. Lions for Most Outstanding Rookie in 2009. What do you know about him?
Not much, just know he runs the ball very well and he likes to deliever the hit when he runs the ball. He's a big back and I've heard he's been playing hurt so good on him.

What is your favorite part about playing in Winnipeg?
The support is amazing. I said in training camp after our first preseason game against Hamilton that the fans here remind me of a College game. And for fun, riding go karts at Speed World, that's good times!

Who is your closest friend on the team?
I don't really have one in particular, I'm close with everybody on the team. We have a great locker room.

What are your plans for the offseason?

Workout and get ready for 2010, and try and find a job to keep me busy.

You played at Tennessee, what kind of experience was that for you?

Greatest experience I could ever get. Coming from there or any big school you learn how to handle the hype and noise so if you're lucky enough to turn pro it makes it easier

Who is the biggest name you played against in College?
Oh man, there were many names because I played in the SEC. One guy I always played well against was JaMarcus Russell (Oakland Raiders quarterback). He played at Louisana State and I picked him off three times!

You and your teammates often talk College football in the locker room, how closely do you still follow Tennessee?
Way too close. I just came from watching my boys this past weekend.

What is your favorite memory of 2009 either on or off the field?
Meeting new people and blocking for JJ on those punt returns.

You told me you’d like to send the fans a message, what did you want to say?
Thanks for the support this season, stay with us and we'll get back at it next year. Have a great winter and happy holidays to everyone.
