Khan is this year’s recipient of the Cal Murphy Heart of a Legend Award, for the second year in a row.
The award is presented annually to the Blue Bomber player who best demonstrates outstanding sportsmanship and dedication to the CFL and community. Khan is also the team’s nominee for the prestigious Tom Pate Memorial Award, which is presented annually by the CFL and CFLPA.
Khan is in his 6th season in the CFL, his 4th with the Blue Bombers, and has entrenched himself in the community as one of the most recognizable and respected Blue Bombers.
Khan has been deeply involved with the Winnipeg community since first arriving here in 2006, and will never say no to offering a helping hand. He has been involved in various groups across the city of Winnipeg and has been the spokesperson for the Crohns and Colitis Foundation of Manitoba/ Saskatchewan, a disease that deeply affected Khan himself. He volunteers his time with Society for Manitobans with Disabilities, Variety - Children’s Charity of Manitoba, and the Canadian Museum for Human Rights.
Khan has also embarked on his own charity efforts, creating Khan’s Kids, to help underprivileged kids in Winnipeg, and Winnipeg Project, to fight poverty and aid disadvantaged children in Namibia, Africa. As well, he has made numerous public appearances at local community events, speaking to youth on several occasions about drug and gang awareness.
