Bombers Add Jeffcoat, Greenwood to Roster

WINNIPEG, MB., February 21, 2016 – The Winnipeg Blue Bombers today announce the club has signed International defensive end Jackson Jeffcoat and International defensive back Chris Greenwood.
Jeffcoat (6-3, 250, Texas, December 26, 1991 in Dallas, TX) has spent the past three seasons in the NFL, most recently with Cleveland. Prior to that, he was with Washington for two seasons, playing in nine games over that span (one start) and accumulating nine tackles, one sack, one forced fumble and one interception. Jackson entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent with Seattle in 2014.
 
Jackson played four seasons for the Texas Longhorns in the NCAA, appearing in 40 career games with 33 starts. He tallied 203 tackles, 27.5 sacks, and recorded 60 career tackles for loss – second most in school history. Jeffcoat also added three forced fumbles and four fumble recoveries. He was a team captain as a senior and the Big 12’s Defensive Player of the Year with his 13 sacks. Jeffcoat was also the winner of the Hendricks Award as the best defensive end in college football that same year, and was a consensus All-American.
Greenwood (6-1, 197, Albion College, July 10, 1989 in Detroit, MI) spent the last season on the club’s practice roster. He was drafted in the 5th round of the 2012 NFL draft by Detroit. In 2013, he split time between the Lions’ practice squad and active roster, suiting up for three games. He spent the 2014 season on the Vikings’ practice roster. In three seasons at Albion, Greenwood picked off 13 passes, and in 2011, was named MIAA Defensive Player of the Year.
