A third-round draft pick in 1984, the Bombers converted Black from tight end to the offensive line and he transformed into one of the most durable and grittiest linemen in the team’s history. Black was technically sound, but earned a reputation as a scrappy guard who would sacrifice everything to protect his QB and open holes for the team’s running backs.
Hardrick was admittedly on his last chance in the CFL when he was scooped up by the Blue Bombers in 2016 after stints with the B.C. Lions and Saskatchewan Roughriders. Pushed to improve his game by his coaches and driven to succeed by his own will, Hardrick has transformed into one of the best tackles in the league. A two-time CFL All-Star, he was named the Blue Bombers Most Outstanding Offensive Lineman in 2023 and was a runner-up for the league award after being selected as the West Division representative.
