WHSFL: Final Regular Season Week Wrap-Up

The finish line is in sight for some squads in the Winnipeg High School Football League. And for others, the fun is just about to start.

The WHSFL wraps up its final week of the regular season beginning Thursday night and the fight for final playoff spots will be intense.

Here are some of the storylines to keep an eye on this week:

  • Four teams remain unbeaten in the three WHSFL divisions and look to carry that perfect record into the postseason. Still sporting perfect records, all at 6-0, are the St. Paul’s Crusaders in the Potter Division (AAA), the Vincent Massey Vikings and St. Paul’s Crusaders (AA) in the Vidruk Division and the Dryden Eagles in the Currie (A) Division.
  • Can Dryden’s senior running back Liam Wrolstad keep his TD streak going? Wrolstad tied a WHSFL record last week with six touchdowns in a game (first set by Adam Mazowita of Sisler in 2006) and now has 12 scores on the season.
  • Will Vincent Massey Trojans QB Andreas Dueck continue to slice up opposition defences? Dueck has thrown for 1,175 yards with 16 TDs against just three interceptions and takes those sparkling numbers into a contest with Sturgeon Heights Friday afternoon.
  • How many more yards can Vincent Massey (Brandon) Vikings running back Mack Adams add to his season total? Adams has an incredible 1,510 yards – and a 12.9 yards per carry average – for 13 TDs this season as Massey wraps up its regular season against Lorette.
