The University of Manitoba Bisons playoff hopes took a serious downward spin Friday night in Calgary.

The Dinos, ranked fifth in the country, mauled the Bisons 63-6 at McMahon Stadium in a critical Canada West Football contest that now drops Manitoba to 2-4 with just two games remaining in the regular season.

The loss was the third worst in the history of the Bison program.

Calgary, now 5-1, clinched a playoff spot for the 10th consecutive season. The Dinos amassed an astonishing 619 yards offence while limiting Manitoba’s potent attack to just 200 yards and picking off quarterback Theo Deezar, including a Hunter Turnbull pick that was returned 77 yards for a touchdown.

The Dinos also got two TDs from running back Bryce Harper, and receiver Jeshrun Antwi, with Michael Klukas and Austen Hartley also pulling in passes for scores.

Calgary QB Jimmy Underdahl completed 11 of 19 passes for 207 yards and two scores and was relieved by Adam Sinagra after suffering an injury. Singara got to work right away by going six of nine for 146 yards and two TDs of his own. The Dinos other score came on a blocked punt, as Hunter Karl scooped up the mistake and ran for a TD.

DJ Lalama led the Bisons with eight tackles while Caleb Abraham added 7.5.
Manitoba’s only scoring came on a pair of first-half field goals by Brad Mikoluff.

The Bisons will be on the road again next Saturday in Edmonton against the Alberta Golden Bears before returning home to close out the regular season against the Regina Rams.
