Bombers add six, release six

WINNIPEG, MB., May 24, 2016 – The Winnipeg Blue Bombers today announce the additions of receivers Gerrard Sheppard and Thomas Mayo, running back Carlos Anderson, defensive lineman Cameron Henderson, linebacker Duron Singleton, and defensive back Jarrid Bryant. All players are Internationals.

Sheppard (6-2, 210, Towson, November 16, 1990 in Owings Mills, MD) was most recently with Green Bay, after spending the 2013 season on the Baltimore Ravens practice roster. Sheppard began his college career at the University of Connecticut, where he played in eight games over two seasons before transferring to Towson where he started in nine of 23 games played in his final two seasons. He registered 52 receptions for 584 yards (11.2 avg.) and five touchdowns.

Mayo (6-2, 205, California (PA), February 13, 1990, in Reston, VA) signed with the Oakland Raiders following his collegiate career. Has also spent time with the New York Jets and in the AFL, as well as in the Indoor Football League.

Anderson (5-8, 180, Northern Iowa, July 24, 1990, in Blue Springs, MO) originally signed with Winnipeg in April of 2015 before being injured in the 2015 pre-season. He spent four seasons at Northern Iowa, and was a First Team All MVFC in 2010. He played in 44 games, started 38, and finished with 2,345 rushing yards and seven touchdowns.

Henderson (6-4, 270, Central Florida, June 2, 1990 in Birmingham, AL) played 13 games as a senior for the Knights, starting in four. That season, he racked up 46 tackles, five for a loss, and two sacks. Henderson has appeared in training camp and pre-season games with the Falcons and Browns, and most recently spent time in camp with the Patriots.

Singleton (6-0, 211, Missouri, March 27, 1990 in New Orleans, LA) played two seasons with the Tigers, where he carved out a role as the team’s nickleback. His best season came in 2014 when he finished the season with 52 tackles. That year he added an interception, and a 60-yard fumble return for a touchdown.

Bryant (6-3, 185, South Dakota, April 2, 1990 in Salisbury, CN) played one season with the Coyotes after transferring from Arizona State. The receiver-turned-defensive back picked up 39 tackles and two interceptions in 12 games that year. Bryant signed with the St. Louis Rams following his collegiate career.
