Bombers add receiver Jerrel Jernigan

WINNIPEG, MB – The Winnipeg Blue Bombers today announce the club has signed International wide receiver Jerrel Jernigan.

Jernigan (5-8, 189, Troy, June 14, 1989 in Eufaula, AL) joins the Blue Bombers after four seasons with the New York Giants. Jernigan was originally selected in the third round, 83rd overall by New York in 2011, and appeared in 34 games over four seasons. During that time, he caught 38 receptions for 391 yards and two touchdowns. Jernigan won the Super Bowl with the Giants in 2011, playing in the game as the Giants’ primary kick returner, and was a teammate of current Bomber defensive back Bruce Johnson in New York.

Jernigan played collegiate football at Troy, seeing action in 50 games with 37 starts. He hauled in a school record 262 receptions for 3,128 yards and 18 touchdowns. Jernigan amassed a school and Sun Belt Conference record 5,972 all-purpose yards and totaled 25 touchdowns on 490 touches through his tenure at Troy.
