Bombers Sign Import Linebacker

The Winnipeg Blue Bombers announced today the signing of import linebacker Doug Hogue.

Hogue (6-2, 245, Syracuse, February 1, 1989 in Yonkers, New York) was most recently with the Carolina Panthers of the NFL, where he spent part of the 2012 season and the preseason of 2013. In 2012, he split time between Carolina and Detroit, played in 14 regular season games, totalling 10 special teams tackles, including eight in nine games with Carolina. He was originally drafted in the 5th round, 157th overall by Detroit in 2011, and debuted with the Lions that season, accumulating six special teams tackles (second on the team) in 13 games.

Hogue played college at Syracuse, playing in 45 games with 31 starts. He produced 167 tackles, 26.5 tackles for loss, 12.5 sacks, three forced fumbles, one fumble recovery, three interceptions and six pass knockdowns, throughout that time. He was a First-team All-Big East Conference selection in 2010 after starting 13 games and finishing second on the team in tackles with 95.
