Blue Bombers add two to defence

The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have signed import defensive lineman Dexter Davis and import linebacker Ian Wild, the team announced today.

Davis (6-3, 230, Friends University, DOB: December 27, 1990 in Wichita, Kansas) was a two-time first team All-KCAF football selection and was named an NAIA All-American as both a junior and a senior.  He was also named the 2011 Defensive Player of the Year after leading the nation in sacks per game as a junior with 1.4 while also sitting tied for top spot on the sack chart with 14.  As a senior, Davis finished the season ranked third in total sacks with 14, and also added 45 tackles, one interception, eight forced fumbles, four fumble recoveries and two blocked kicks.

Wild (6-0, 208, Mercyhurst, DOB: March 13, 1990 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania) finished his collegiate career tied for 8th all-time in school history with 304 tackles after racking up 90 in his senior season, despite playing in only eight games.  He led his team in both tackles and sacks as a senior with 52 solo stops, 12.5 tackles for loss, seven sacks and five forced fumbles and was named the Lakers’ Defensive MVP.  Wild made starts in each of his four seasons and was named west First Team All-PSAC in 2010 and West Second Team All-PSAC in 2009.  He was a two-sport athlete while at Mercyhurst, excelling at lacrosse as well as football.  Wild attended minicamp with the Buffalo Bills last season.
