Blue Bombers re-sign CFL All-Star Bryant Turner

The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have announced that it has re-signed CFL All-Star defensive tackle Bryant Turner, prior to Turner becoming a free agent on February 15. As per team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

“Bryant is an integral part of our defense and organization as a whole. His character both on and off the field are exactly what we look for as representatives of the Blue Bombers, and we are thrilled to get this deal completed and have Bryant anchor our defensive line once again,” said Vice-President and General Manager Joe Mack.

Turner, coming off his second season in the CFL, recorded three sacks in his first game of the 2012 campaign and followed that up with a two-sack performance in week two. He finished the regular season with 20 defensive tackles, six sacks, two forced fumbles and one fumble recovery in 14 starts, including one at defensive end.

In 2011, he started all 13 games he was in the lineup for and finished the season with 15 defensive tackles, three quarterback sacks, one forced fumble and one pass knockdown. Turner started both the East Final and 99th Grey Cup

“I’m really excited to get this deal done prior to free agency and stay with the organization that gave me an opportunity. I really feel that we are on the road to great things in Winnipeg and I cannot wait to play in the new Investors Group Field, in front of the best fans in the CFL,” said Turner.
